Before we started our little soap company I thought of avocados as the starting point for guacamole. If I was feeling fancy I may throw it in a salad or mash it up and spread it on a piece of toasted brioche and top with fried egg (that is some yummy stuff). I learned over time that avocados were not only tasty but also incredibly rich in healthy fats, vitamins, and nutrients.
When we started researching ingredients for our line of soaps and moisturizers this amazing oil kept popping up. Just as avocados are healthy to consume the oil is wonderful for the skin. Avocado oil is rich in Vitamin E as well as potassium which are nutrients critical for and easily absorbed by the skin. This helps strengthen existing skin cells while fueling new cell growth.
In addition, avocado oil is rich in oleic acid. According to the NIH, oleic acid has natural anti-inflammatory properties. As a result, this makes avocado oil ideal for use in skin care products where dry skin, eczema, infections, and allergic reactions can lead to irritation or itchiness.
We have included avocado oil in our Body Wash which is a wonderful cleanser that lathers well and is paraben and sulfate free. We also use avocado oil in our Body Oil, a rich moisturizer that is quickly absorbed by the skin after a bath or shower. In fact, we are so enamored of avocado oil that we are including in our new line of bar soaps which will be released this Summer.
