Us

Julia & Wayne are the husband and wife team behind Whispering Willow.  We are the creators, the designers, the manufacturers, the labelers, the customer service team, and so on.  Each product that goes out our door is truly handcrafted with love, attention and pride in the end result.

When we started our little soap company in 2010, we sat down and discussed what was important to us moving forward and we focused on three main principles that have guided all of our decisions:

  1. We wanted our products to be Sustainable. We use certified organic ingredients whenever possible.  We also aim to include as much recycled and recyclable packaging as we can.  We believed our business had to be part of a virtuous cycle if it was going to be truly sustainable; so we decided to give back a percentage of our profits to charity every year right from the beginning.
  2. We wanted our products to be Natural. We never use any sulfates, parabens, synthetic preservatives, scents or colors in our product line.  If we feel uncomfortable using an ingredient, we don’t.
  3. We wanted our products to be Beautiful. We believed that a great product should not only work well and smell fantastic, but it should also be visually appealing.

With those ideas in mind, we set off on a journey that has given us the good fortune of traveling around the Eastern United States and meeting some of the most remarkable people.  We have been astounded by the support we have received from customers who appreciate and believe in what we are trying to do.  We have also been touched by the warm reception of the handmade community which is filled with creative people who are so generous, kind and supportive of any and all crafty entrepreneurs.

In short, it has been an amazingly rewarding (if occasionally sleep-deprived) process so far.  While we do not know where our little soap company will take us, we know that as long as we stay true to our guiding principles, we will end up right where we belong.
